World Skiing Championships 2023 for the disabled

Last week World Championships for the disabled in skiing took place in Span's resort of Espot. Slovenia's sole respresentative was Jernej Slivnik.

Jernej came to Spain quite optimistic after competing sucessfully in the World Cup. In Veysonnaz in Switzerland he qualified three times at 4th place in giant slalom and slalom races in January. In December he also participated in FIS competitions in Pitztal in Austria. In four events there in giant-slaom and super-g he claimed second place on two occasions, while also getting one 4th and one 6th place. So even medals were on his mind for the championships in Spain.

But things did not go Jernej's way this time. On Thursday (26.01.2023) he finished 8th in giant slalom. Result was one place better than on last World Championships but still less that he was hoping for. Gold went to Norway's Jesper Pedersen, while silver and bronze medlas went to Netherland's Jeroen Kampschreur and Niels de Langen. On Sunday (29.01.2023) Jernej also competed in slalom, but he did not finish the race and was a DNF in the first run. Let us wish Jernej many other successes in this years World Cup.
